Step 2: Setup Amazon Q for Slack<\/h2>\n\n\n\n Here we are going to connect AWS Q with Slack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nVisit the AWS Q (Chatbot) console<\/li>\n\n\n\n Select Slack as the client<\/li>\n\n\n\n Click “Configure Client”<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\nAfter being redirected to the Slack, then select the “ChatSupport Team” workspace to allow the connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThen we will be redirected back to the AWS Q console and see the authorized connection to Slack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Step 3: Setup The SNS Topic for Slack Alerts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n We’ll use the SNS as the message broker where Slack is subscribed on it to consume the alerts from AWS services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nVisit the SNS Console: <\/li>\n\n\n\n Click Topics<\/strong> in the left menu <\/li>\n\n\n\nClick \u201cCreate topic\u201d<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\nChoose Standard<\/strong> as the topic type <\/li>\n\n\n\nEnter a name for the topic (e.g., slack-alerts-topic<\/code>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Step 4: Setup Slack Channel in AWS Q (Chatbot)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n Now we return back to the AWS Q console to inform which channel to use and what alerts is allowed to receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nBack to the AWS Q console and click “Configure New Channel”<\/li>\n\n\n\n Fill up the following:\n\nConfiguration name: ChatSupport<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\nChannel type: Keep it as Public<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\nChannel name: new-channel<\/li>\n\n\n\n IAM Role Configuration<\/strong>:\n\nSelect \u201cCreate an IAM role using a template\u201d<\/strong> from the dropdown<\/li>\n\n\n\nSet the Role name<\/strong> to awschatbot-role<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\nUnder Policy templates<\/strong>, check the following two options:\n\nNotification permissions:<\/strong> Allows Chatbot to retrieve CloudWatch metrics and graphs<\/li>\n\n\n\nAmazon Q Developer access permissions:<\/strong> Enables interactions from Slack without full administrator access<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\nIn the Guardrail policies<\/strong> section:\n\nAllow AWSLambda_FullAccess<\/em><\/strong> and <\/em>AWSLambda_ReadOnlyAccess<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\nIn the Notifications<\/strong> section:\n\nChoose the Region<\/strong> where SNS topic exist (e.g., us-east-1<\/code>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\nSelect an existing SNS topic<\/strong> (e.g., slack-alerts-topic<\/code>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\nThen click Configure<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Step 5: Test The Integration and Configuration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n It’s time to test if the connection really works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
